CNG is just liquefied NG. In the case of CNG, NG is put under 250 times atmospheric pressure and thus liquefied. It is stored in strong metal cylinders, capable of maintaining that extreme pressure.
CBG is Compressed Bio Gas. It is achieved by methodically extracting Methane from decomposing bio-substrates like cow-dung, press-mud, napier grass, MSW, etc. As Methane percentage is similar or more than NG, its properties are almost similar to CNG, and that is why CBG can be used in all the application areas where NG/CNG is used. CBG is referred to as BioCNG or RNG also, sometimes.
CGD is an Indian central government promoted scheme, being implemented in several urban centers all over India, which have a population of 10 lakhs or more. In this scheme, a reverse tendering process for that urban center is followed, and the single highest bidder is offered to solely operate in that area. The winning licensee company is expected to provide NG pipe-grid infrastructure, serving every household and CNG auto retail station in that urban center. The NG/CNG selling price in that urban center is decided by that licensee company, not by any government.
SATAT is an Indian central government promoted scheme where it encourages entrepreneurs to establish CBG plants. Once enrolled in this scheme, the government assures entrepreneurs of confirmed off-take of produced CBG, by facilitating LOI, to the plant-establishing entrepreneur, by nearby CGD Licensee Company or IOCL/GAIL. SATAT-enrolled entrepreneurs are also helped by nationalized banks and government fertilizer companies.
